Okay, let’s start with the basics.
I met Ellen through one of my favorite brides ever, Christie!
So, when Ellen messaged me to tell me she was interested in hiring me for her and Emily’s big day; I GEEKED.
These two humans are creative and quite brilliant and work in theatre and education.
They had a large winter wedding in Frederick, Maryland at Dulany’s Overlook!
The day started out quite lovely. They were in this MASSIVE house and both were separated from another but each had their squads rolling quite deep with them which naturally was SUPER FUN. The getting ready part was hectic, messy, funny and absolutely perfect.
It was a beautiful sunny day but it was also a little chilly. Know what helps with that kind of situation? CIDER! Which they had for their guests as they went to their seating. They ceremony was absolutely reminiscent of who these two are and it was fabulous.
After the ceremony an evening filled with PIES, a baby shark moment and a whole lot of LOVE.
I’m so so happy I got to document this gem of a day and couple.

Here are some fun Q&A’s from Ellen!
1- How and when did you meet?
We met on the steps of the library of Congress one clear winters day. I like to imagine our hands met as we reached for the same book, but actually I was meeting up with my friend/her cousin and they were an hour late and I was so pissed I almost left.
2- Who made moves first?
Emily, but she took forever. She was so shy that I thought she must not like me after all. A night out at the lesbian bar Phase 1 (sadly closed now) changed everything!
3- Favorite thing to do together?
Travel new places, watch old cartoons, drink coffee, nothing.
4-Best part of the wedding?
First dance playing live by our good friend. Made it feel less formal but more special.
5-Odd fact?
We bonded really early over “Chamber of Secrets” being our favorite Harry Potter book. I’ve never met another person who agrees! Justice for HP2!!!!
